SANTO DOMINGO-The Dominican Alliance Against Corruption (ADOCC) filed charges on Monday against the Santiago mayor Jose Enrique Sued, accused of mishandling more than one billion pesos during his tenure in that city. Julio Cesar Tiburcio and other ADOCCO executives deposited a document in the Justice Ministry’s Anti-corruption Department (DPCA), which also charges the mayor of embezzling more than 500 million pesos in irregular purchases. ADOCCO also accuses Sued, who lost a reelection bid in the last polls for which will have to turn over Santiago’s city hall on August 16, of ordering the purchase of equipment for 190 million pesos in violation of Law 2340-06 on contracts and purchases. The organization says the mayor who figured in the electoral ticket of the alliance of the ruling PLD and opposition PRSC parties managed the position as a “family business.” Source from: Dominican Today |
